Finally, a skincare routine that works!

Clinique 3 step skincare regimen
Originally I was going to do a skincare favourites post, but I thought it would be more interesting if I was to talk you through my morning skincare routine. Recently, my skin has been behaving in such a strange way, and applying makeup wasn't as easy and getting a flawless finish seemed impossible. No matter what I was trying: masks, cleansers, exfoliators and moisturisers nothing seemed to work or help my skin.

My skin was super red especially under my eyes, around my nose and cheeks, I tend to get redness on my cheeks, but this wasn't that normal redness. I also felt as if my skin became bumpy but I had no spots, and I hardly ever breakout. Overall, my skin looked tired and dehydrated. Exam stress and constantly having the heating on seemed to deteriorate my skin further. I normally have normal to combination skin, but now I feel like my skin has become dry to combinational.

I swear by the Liz Earle Hot Cloth Cleanse and Polish, and have done so for the past few years, but I feel like the visible effects wear off after constant use for a few months. Therefore, I take breaks but always end up going back to it, because it's one of the best cleansers I have used; so lightweight, brightens and clears the skin, and is great for removing makeup at night!

At this moment in time, I am on a Liz Earle break, and have started using the Clinique Sonic System, and I love the results I am seeing, my skin has started to look and feel like it use, actually it feels and looks a lot better. It's definitely more clear and so soft!

When I brought the Clinique Sonic System it came with the 3-step regimen, prior to this I have only tired clinique moisturisers and their eye creams which I love. I don't know whether it was the sonic system, or the products within the 3-step regimen or both but something has improved the look and feel of my skin. I began seeing results in the first few days.

So my morning skincare routine is:

Step 1: Cleanse
I start off the day applying the Clinique Foaming Sonic Facial Soap onto my face, and then go in with their sonic system which I use for  a minute even though its recommended for 30 seconds, but I don't find 30 seconds sufficient.

Step 2: Exfoliate
I then go in with the Clinique Clarifying Lotion 2, which I apply all over my face and neck and think its my favourite product from the three I use.

Step 3: Moisturise
Firstly, I apply my eye cream Clinique Superdefence SPF 15 eye cream, I love that it has SPF and so use it daily, and for my night time skin care routine I prefer something a bit more hydrating such as Keihl's Cream Eye Treatment with Avocado. However, I do alternate between the two some mornings depending on how my skin feels. I've been using the moisturiser that I got with the sonic system which is the Dramatically Different Moisturising Lotion+ all over my face. Although trying this before and not liking it, but this time I can see a difference, which might be due to my skin being so dry lately. Applying a lotion consistency isn't one of my favourite things so I orientate between this and the Origins GinZing Energy Boosting Moisturiser, I love the lightweight gel type consistency. One main disadvantage of both creams is they contain no SPF, and I like to wear SPF daily, so after moisturising my skin, I go in with the Clinique City Block SPF 40, and I have been using this for about 2 years now. I love that it doesn't make the skin look greasy and makeup applies so easily over it.

I feel like this has been a Clinique skincare overload, but recently it seems to be the only things that works for me and has improved my skin. All products mentioned have been linked above.

  2. I'll have to take a better look at Clinique's skincare, I used to use it about five years ago but switched it up.

  3. That's great that you have found a skincare routine that works. I'm currently focusing on being more consistent with my skincare routine as consistency is what i suck at. I do want to try some products from the ordinary because i have serious texture issues (these tiny random bumps that aren't pimples). So i definitely need to find skincare products to fix that.

    1. I also struggle at times with being consistent and that's when my skin deteriorates further.
